Barbra: The Eighties

Matt has completed and made available for sale the newest Barbra Archives book .... Barbra Streisand: The Eighties.

For the uninitiated, Matt has previously published The 60s, The 60s Part Two, and The 70s through Lulu Press. All of the Barbra Archives books are about Barbra's career in each decade. They are a printed version of the wonderful information you find here on this website—arranged and designed for the printed medium. Some of the books contain new information and articles not found on the Barbra-Archives.com site.

All of the Barbra-Archives books can be found here >>

In the new 80s book, Matt covers all of Barbra's career highlights from 1980-1989. Included are newly researched articles on All Night Long, Till I Loved You, and Nuts. Other interesting chapters cover the abandoned Back To Broadway sessions with Rupert Holmes (including Matt's interview with him), Barbra fanzines of the 80s (including All About Barbra and Barbra Quarterly), Barbra's Emotion videos, the hungry i bootleg, and excerpts from Matt's interviews with Phil Ramone and the Bergmans. You'll also find all the interesting things about Barbra in the 80s that you might not expect: like her cameo on Miami Vice, 80s film projects that never materialized, and "Hands Across America".

The book is full-color, 73 pages, 8.5" x 11", perfect binding, white interior paper (80# weight), full-color interior ink, white exterior paper (100# weight), full-color exterior ink.

BARBRA: THE SEVENTIES

Matt Howe has written another "hard copy" of a lot of the information that you find here online at the Barbra Archives. This time, THE SEVENTIES concentrates on Streisand's career from 1969 to 1979. Inside you will find expanded articles on Matt's favorite Streisand subjects, including ON A CLEAR DAY (the cut scenes!), and FUNNY LADY (9 pages of cut scenes, "From Funny Girl to Funny Lady", cinematographer James Wong Howe, and an article on refilming "Great Day") ... Matt has also done some special research on Barbra's pop albums of the 70s, including songwriters and shows that some of the songs come from! There are also pages dedicated to Barbra's charity work with NARC, interviews with Phil Ramone and Rupert Holmes, and loads of pictures and collectibles included as well.

The book is written and designed by Howe, "perfect bound" and full color.

The book is the longest yet — 97 pages. It's 8.5" x 11" in size, with perfect binding and full-color interior ink.

Use the link above to order your copy today. Matt sells through www.lulu.com. Lulu is a self-publishing site that "prints-to-order" ... Ordering the book is similar to most sites like Amazon — simply add the book to your shopping cart and check out with your credit card information. (My copy took about 5 days to reach me). Greetings, Barbra-Archives readers! Matt Howe has been busy, and the fruit of his labors have arrived ... a print version of all the great information you've enjoyed reading on this site!

BARBRA: THE SIXTIES (PART ONE) is a printed publication, 71 pages, 8.5" x 11.0", saddle-stitch binding (i.e. center-stapled), full-color interior.

Matt Howe ("The Barbra Archives" website) has put together a handsome guide to Barbra's early career in the 1960s. Starting with her childhood in Brooklyn (accompanied by direct quotes from Ms. Streisand), Matt includes the fascinating early performances in clubs like the Bon Soir and the hungry i. The book ends with Barbra's triumph on Broadway in FUNNY GIRL.

Just like his detailed website, this book contains lists and information about Barbra. You'll find the "trunk" songs from FUNNY GIRL (Broadway); a comparison of the Broadway versus film version of FUNNY GIRL; amazing research on "lost" shows like PM EAST; Barbra's demos and unreleased songs; Matt's usual excellent photo selection; and finally, a Magazine and Newspaper list (1960-1964) detailing most major (and some minor) articles that were written about Barbra. Matt chronologically lists the magazine date, name, story name, pages, and notes any rare facts (i.e. rare photos or information).

BARBRA: THE SIXTIES (PART ONE) is a handsome, professionally printed magazine-type book, saddle-stitched and printed on high-quality paper. Matt did the layout himself, so you can expect the usual high-quality graphics that you see on his website.
