Barbra Streisand joined David Foster & Friends and Master of Ceremonies Jason Alexander for the LA / Western Region Gala Dinner of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF).
Barbra said to the audience that evening, “I also sang at the 30th anniversary of the State of Israel. And I had the privilege of speaking, via satellite, of course, with Prime Minister Golda Meir — and she knew then that our tradition teaches us that none of us can stand alone in this world. Judaism at its core is a religion of community, and, therefore, it propels us to live a life connected to … People. People who need people ...”

Backed by a choir of ten on either side of her, Streisand concluded the evening with an extraordinary performance of the traditional Jewish prayer “Avinu Malkeinu.”

According to their website, “FIDF initiates and helps support educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs & facilities for the young men and women soldiers of Israel who defend the Jewish homeland. FIDF also supports the families of fallen soldiers.”
