Welcome ...
Thanks for stopping by "The Barbra Streisand Archives".
My name is Matt ... I'm simply a Streisand fan. I am not connected to Columbia Records or Barbra Streisand, or any of Barbra's coworkers. I cannot email or communicate wih Ms. Streisand — sorry, I cannot help you send messages to her.
I am a staff writer for ALL ABOUT BARBRA magazine, as well as a web and print designer and photographer. In my spare time I also act, am a cabaret performer, eat sushi, and worry about the state of things. I live in the Washington, D.C. area.
I created "The Barbra Archives" because I'm a huge fan of Barbra Streisand. I got hooked when I saw Yentl. I started this site to express my fandom. I wanted to collect the wealth of articles, pictures, and information about Barbra onto my website so that her fans around the world could access it.
"The Barbra Streisand Archives" is concerned with Barbra's work. I don't deal with tabloid stories or any personal issues of Ms. Streisand. I'm relatively politics-free here, too.
I hope that new fans will use this site to learn more about Barbra ... and I hope the "older" fans find something interesting here that they've never seen or heard before.
Special mention should be given to James Spada, Karen Swenson, Chris Nickens, Bob Scott, Allison Waldman, Thomas Galyean, Karma Productions and all the folks who did this sort of fan-stuff years before the internet made it easy to "Google" Streisand. I have all their books, biographies and magazines — they set the standard for Barbra Fandom. Like Barbra herself, I think Streisand fans are a classy bunch.
I am particularly intrigued by the early part of Barbra's career. If I had a time machine, the first trip I'd make would be to Greenwich Village circa 1962-63! I get so excited when I see rare pictures or articles (or recordings!) from that era. Being a Streisand fan during the early sixties must have been amazing.
Finally, thanks to all the people who've contributed to this site ["very special people"; left]. I do all the original writing and web design here, but there are others who keep my interest up, contribute materials, or give me encouragement. Their contributions are so helpful!
Thanks for stopping by, and happy Barbra-surfing!

About the text, pictures and information found here ...
I have attempted to name, list or credit sources when possible. Please alert me if I have failed to do so.
Much of this website utilizes my own original text, which is copyrighted. Please list me as a source if you quote it somewhere.
Please do not copy, rewrite or redistribute this site's materials. You may freely link to any page on this website, but please do not link directly to image, video, or audio files. [i.e. Do not hotlink].
About Right-Clicking Being Disabled & Watermarks ...
Why do I disable right-clicking? Three very simple reasons:
- So people may not easily copy-and-paste my research and text onto their site. Please see my comments above regarding the text and information found here.
- So that blogs and message boards cannot easily HOTLINK to photos on this site. This is also known as BANDWIDTH THEFT. I pay a web hosting company a fee to host my files. If you hotlink to them for FREE, it is analogous to plugging your computer into my electrical outlet. Please, bloggers, host your own photos!!
- Several photographers have allowed me to use their copyrighted photos on my site. They are happy to let me use the photographs since I have disabled right-clicking, and in some instances, watermarked the photos.
The Fair Use Law ...
PER TITLE 17 - UNITED STATES CODE - SECTION 107 “the fair use of a copyrighted work ... for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching ... scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include - 1 the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes; 2 the nature of the copyrighted work; 3 the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and 4 the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work...” |
