Barbra Streisand on TV: The Maxwell House Christmas Album Commercial
TV Commercial promoting Columbia Album CSS 1075

Barbra Streisand appears in Maxwell House record promotion commercial

Season's Greetings from Barbra Streisand

To promote a special holiday album, Barbra Streisand filmed a commercial.

The album, released by Columbia Special Products and "created exclusively for Maxwell House coffee", contained six of Barbra's "Christmas Album" tracks on side one. Side two contained more Holiday songs by Jim Nabors, Doris Day, and Andre Kostelanetz.

the Canadian version of the album

The Canadian version, which promoted Canada Dry, (#CSPS 444) was titled "Season's Greetings & Joyeux Noel to Canada from Barbra Streisand....and friends".

The commercial, filmed simply, featured Barbra, presents, and a Christmas tree. It's hard to place a date on the commercial. Barbra definitely looks like she's in Clear Day mode. The Barbra Archives estimates that this promotion was probably circa 1968, which would have been the year following "The Christmas Album's" release, and a few months before Clear Day started filming (Jan. 1969).

Barbra is first seen looking through the presents under her tree.... A closeup ... so many presents!

Barbra poses with her favorite present! The album rotates, giving us a view of both sides....

Do you think Barbra used a "hand double"? The commerical shows viewers what the store displays look like...

"Only $1.00" !!! What a Holiday Record Offer!
