Memory Lane with Joe Franklin
Local New York broadcast, WOR, 1963

Joe Franklin's show, which ran locally in New York was a talk show that mixed various guests from different backgrounds. Barbra was on the show several times, according to Franklin, although the dates of her appearances are unknown. In many interviews with Joe, he states that Barbra was "his singer" who performed on his show "forty times".

Frank Campana, associate director of artist relations at Columbia Records at the time, said he strongly encouraged host Joe Franklin to take a chance and book Streisand on his show. "She wasn't typically glamorous at the time, but when she opened her mouth to sing, she floored them," Campana said.

Like so many other early television shows, there are no tapes of the early Memory Lane shows. WOR would run them and erase them weeks later to record another episode.
