Harmonie Club
New York, NY
November, 1963

Streisand has the rare distinction of playing the Harmonie Club — the second oldest private club in New York City.

Tradionally an all-male club (which now admits females), it was founded for the purpose of "mutually beneficial social entertainment, occasional singing entertainments, lectures, etc."

Located at 4 W. 60th Street (near Fifth Avenue, Grand Army Plaza and Central Park), many powerful Jewish businessmen were members.

Reportedly, Streisand's 1963 gig at the Harmonie Club was a benefit to honor Leonard Goldenson. Now, Goldenson was the force behind the creation of ABC television network. Goldenson was also Co-Founder and Chairman of United Cerebral Palsy Associations Inc. His eldest daughter, Genise, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

One can only assume that, perhaps, Goldenson was being honored for his philanthropy and was entertained by Barbra Streisand sometime in November 1963 at the Harmonie Club.
