Rogue

December 1964

Rogue Notes

[...] Barbra Streisand, whose candid photo album shows the pixieish side of the famous star. Taken on the beach and by the club in the wee small hours of the morning, we feel the shots capture the real Barbra.

[Barbra-Archives note: These photos were taken in Chicago during Barbra's gig at Mr. Kelly's, 1963. See the Outtakes section below, too ...]

OUTTAKES

[Barbra-Archives note: The photographer who took the photos on this page is Don Bronstein [although he is credited in the magazine as "Don Sheldon"].

Bronstein was the man behind the lens on the photographs gracing many 1960s LP covers.

Below are some outtakes from this session in Chicago in 1963. The photos below did not appear in this magazine, but are presented for archival purposes.

One shot from this session was used as the cover of Barbra's 1964 album, People.

There were other shots taken of Streisand wearing a mumu which were auctioned on ebay a few years ago — if the auction winner would like to share high-quality scans of these, please contact me: matt [at] barbra-archives [dot] come. Thank you!

Incidentally, Bronstein won a 1964 Grammy for the People album cover, along with Robert Cato, the album art director.]
